YouTube Transcript Extractor Privacy Policy

YouTube Transcript Extractor is a Chrome extension that helps users extract transcript text from YouTube videos.

Data We Process

When you use the extension, it may process:

  • The URL of the active YouTube video.
  • The YouTube video ID derived from that URL.
  • An optional two-letter language code if you enter one.
  • Transcript data returned for the requested video.
  • Technical request data received by the MintAPI backend, such as IP address, user agent, request time, and response status, for rate limiting, abuse prevention, security, debugging, and service reliability.

The extension does not read your full browsing history. It only uses the active YouTube tab URL needed to extract a transcript.

How Data Is Used

The extension sends the YouTube video URL and optional language code to the MintAPI transcript endpoint:

https://mintapi.dev/api/tools/youtube-transcript

This request is used only to fetch transcript data for the video you request. MintAPI may use technical request data, including IP address, to enforce free usage rate limits and protect the service from abuse.

Data Storage

The extension does not store transcript requests, transcript text, API keys, or personal information in Chrome extension storage.

Downloaded TXT or JSON files are created only when you click a download button and are saved by your browser to your device.

MintAPI may retain backend request logs for security, abuse prevention, debugging, analytics, and rate limiting. These logs are not used to sell user data.

Chrome Web Store Data Categories

For Chrome Web Store disclosure purposes, this extension may process:

  • Location: IP address may be processed by the MintAPI backend for rate limiting, abuse prevention, security, and service reliability.
  • Web history: The active YouTube video URL and page title may be read so the extension can detect the video you want to process.
  • Website content: The YouTube video URL, optional language code, and transcript output are processed to provide transcript extraction.

Data We Do Not Collect

The extension does not collect:

  • Personally identifiable information such as name, address, email address, age, or identification number.
  • Health information.
  • Financial or payment information.
  • Authentication information such as passwords, credentials, security questions, or PINs.
  • Personal communications such as emails, texts, or chat messages.
  • User activity such as keystroke logging, mouse tracking, scroll tracking, or network monitoring.

Third-Party Processing

Transcript extraction is handled by the MintAPI backend. The backend may call upstream transcript providers to fulfill the request. Your RapidAPI key is not included in the extension bundle and is not exposed to extension users.

Rate Limits

The extension is free to use, but transcript extraction is rate limited to protect service availability. For higher-volume transcript workflows, use the MintAPI APIs at https://mintapi.dev.

Remote Code

The extension does not load or execute remote JavaScript code.
